Step 1. Connect to DB
1.1 Connecting to the Database
- Launch i-META Designer and select [DEMO_T] in the [DB Connect] window.
1.2 Selecting Tables
Click the [Schema] to open the Schema Window.
Note : Adding Schemas and Tables
To use tables in i-META Designer, they must be registered in the Schema Manager.
Refer to Adding Schemas and Tables for instructions on registering schemas and tables.
In the Schema window, double-click the tables required for META creation and place them in the workspace.
Step 2. Set Table Join Relationships
Connect key fields between tables using Drag & Drop to establish join relationships.
Drag & Drop the fields to connect. The default join type is set to inner join.
Note : Changing Join Properties
After the connection, right-click to modify the connection properies from the created [Link].
Step 3. Define Meta Fields
3.1 Adding Fields
Select data fields from the table to add to the meta items.
Check all data fields from the table to add to the meta items.
- Rename the created folder.
- Folder Name : Date, Customer Info, Store Info, Product Info, Sales Performance, Sales Target
Note : Changing Folder/Field Names
To rename a folder or field in i-META items, double-click the item or press F2 key to modify.
Alternatively, right-click the item and select [Properties] - [Description] to modify.
Note : Manual Folder Creation Option
If [Table Automatic Generation] is activated in i-META Designer window [Settings], folders are created automatically.
This option is disabled, when table is created manually.

Right-click in the Items window to add a folder.
3.2 Defining Field Properties
Modify properties of Date and YearMonth fields, and Measure field.
- Right-click the [Date] field and select [Property]. In the Properties window, modify the settings.
Category : Period
DefaultFormat : yyyyMMdd Modify the properties of the [YearMonth] field.
Category : Period
DefaultFormat : yyyyMMModify the properties of the Measure item.
DefaultFormat : #,###0
Note : Meta Field Properties

Step 4. Add Hierarchical Items
Fields can be structured hierarchically, allowing for Drill Up/Down analysis on the added items.
- Rigt-click on an empty space in the i-META items window and select [Add hierarchy items].
Now a [Field Group] field is created. Change the hierarchical item to 'Product Group'. - Copy the existing fields to represent them hierarchically.
Drag & Drop the copied fields into the created hierarchical item group.
Fields to copy : Product Category, Product Subcategory
Step 5. Share/Distribute the Meta File
Save the created meta to the server.
- Click the [Save] or [Save As] button.
- Enter the file name in the authorized folder and click [OK] button to save.
